A New Security System Is Needed — Volodymyr Yelchenko’s Lecture at the Diplomatic Academy
Volodymyr Yelchenko, Head of International Policy Research at the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine and former Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, delivered a lecture and held a seminar for students of the Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, they discussed the specifics of multilateral diplomacy, the work of the UN system and negotiation mechanisms, as well as Russia’s destructive role and the possibility of its expulsion from the Organization.
The most terrifying weapon in the world is nuclear. And the threat of its use becomes even more dangerous when international rules are being destroyed and chaos is spreading across the world, the expert explains.
The diplomat is convinced that “everything happening today must lead to the creation of a fundamentally different international security system. What it will be like is hard to predict. However, the path to building it would be much clearer if Russia could be expelled from the UN. After all, any negotiations on a new security system will inevitably run up against resistance from the Russian Federation, which is doing everything to keep global chaos going.”
The event was organized by the Diplomatic Academy, headed by its Director Ihor Ostash.
