During the High-Level Week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, a separate event was dedicated to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. It was a thematic exhibition, complemented by a scholarly presentation on cultural heritage and its protection amid Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

On Monday, September 28, historians Oleksandr Kucheruk, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Heorhii Papakin discussed the private and public life of Mykhailo Hrushevskyi. He emerged before the audience as a living person with a strong character and an extraordinary capacity for work. In his time and in his place, he did everything in his power for Ukraine to join the ranks of state-building nations and cease to be merely a territory.

On September 26, Europe marks the European Day of Languages — a day that reminds us of the value of linguistic diversity, multilingualism and the opportunity to learn the languages of other nations.

On October 1, the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, at 6:30 PM, a presentation and discussion of George Dougherty’s book “The Beast in the Machine. How Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Are Changing Wars and the Future of Human Conflict?” will take place. The event is organized by the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation and the “Nash Format” publishing house.

On Monday, September 28, the National Museum of Ukrainian History invites everyone to an open discussion, “Mykhailo Hrushevskyi: Between Politics and Private Life.” Historians Oleksandr Zinchenko, Oleksandr Alfiorov, Volodymyr Tylishchak, Heorhii Papakin, and Oleksandr Kucheruk will talk about the personal life, worldview, and state-building work of one of the founding fathers of Ukrainian statehood. Visitors will also be able to see a small exhibition dedicated to this outstanding Ukrainian.

Try to guess. Which top Ukrainian military figure of the past was mobilized straight from a university lecture hall, immediately became a sotnyk (company commander), and ended up in one of the fiercest battles of World War I? Who was taken prisoner twice — and each time turned it to his own advantage?

On September 20, the first in-person module of the second season of the international mentoring program “Koreni ta Kryla: Istoriia, Yaka Ob’iednuie” (“Roots and Wings: A History That Unites”) concluded in Prague. Participants took part in a walking lecture through Prague led by historian Volodymyr Poltorak. Along the route, they discussed three female historical figures whose stories link Prague with medieval Rus’-Ukraine, Kyiv, and Halych.

The first international presentation of the book by journalist, Head of the Communications Department of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation and Ukrainian Radio host Kseniia Dvornikova, “Surviving Hostomel: 21 Stories from a Hero City,” took place in Prague (Czech Republic). The book brings together testimonies of Hostomel residents about the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion, the occupation, evacuation, losses, and return home.

Participants began the second day of the first in-person module of the “Koreni ta Kryla: istoriia, yaka ob’iednuie” (“Roots and Wings: a history that unites”) program at the National Museum in Prague. After the previous day’s work on methodology and tools for teaching history, they were to apply them directly in the museum space.
