The book contains documentary stories of Hostomel residents about the first weeks of the full-scale Russian invasion, the occupation, evacuation, and resistance against the occupiers. Among the protagonists are military personnel and civilians who became witnesses and participants of the events of February–March 2022. At the meeting, Boris Johnson recalled his visit to Hostomel.
“It was especially important for me to hand this book to Boris Johnson personally. He visited de-occupied Hostomel in 2023 and saw with his own eyes the consequences of the Russian occupation. Now he will be able to learn not only about the destroyed city, but above all about the people who lived through these events. Behind every story in the book is a specific person, their experience, pain, and strength,” said author Ksenia Dvornikova.
Boris Johnson visited Lviv as part of the 33rd Lviv International BookForum, where he presented the Ukrainian edition of his memoir “Unleashed.” The conversation was moderated by historian and Member of Parliament of Ukraine Volodymyr Viatrovych. The foreword to the Ukrainian edition was written by the chief consultant of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation, Ihor Kharchenko.
