August 23 — Ukraine’s State Flag Day
🇺🇦 August 23 is Ukraine’s State Flag Day.

The blue-and-yellow flag is one of Ukraine’s most recognizable symbols. Today it can be seen in every corner of the world – as a sign of freedom, as a reminder of home, as a mark of solidarity with Ukraine.
The combination of blue and yellow colors appears in the symbols of Ukrainian settlements dating back to the times of Rus’; Cossacks painted yellow crosses, celestial bodies, and weapons on the blue background of regimental and company banners. And in the 19th century, during the European “Spring of Nations,” the blue-and-yellow combination became established as Ukrainian national colors – in June 1848, such a banner was raised for the first time above the town hall in Lviv.
On September 4, 1991, the blue-and-yellow flag flew above the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. And a few months later, on January 28, 1992, the Verkhovna Rada officially approved it as the State Flag of Ukraine.
Today our warriors are returning the blue-and-yellow flag to territories liberated from the russian invader, and one day it will fly over all of independent Ukraine — as a symbol of our victory.
We thank everyone who preserves, defends, and carries these colors — at the front, at home, around the world
Happy Flag Day!!💙💛
