At first, the occupiers targeted libraries, then publishing houses, printing houses, book warehouses, and book markets. Russian attacks have already destroyed and damaged millions of books in various Ukrainian locations.

Recently, our partners — the “Nash Format” publishing house, with whom we are preparing a joint book series Para bellum about how technologies and decisions change war, and wars change civilization — were also affected by a Russian strike.

The burned books are not accidental losses. For centuries, Russia has systematically tried to destroy Ukrainian culture, heritage, language, books… Dozens of publishing houses and printing houses have already suffered damage, including Vivat, Knyholav, BookChef, Mison, Ark.Yuei, Mamyne Sonechko, Laboratoriia, Ranok, Hramota, Litera LTD, Linhvist, Artbuks, ASSA, Kalamar, Atena, Aston, Bukshef, Vyshcha Shkola, Medytsyna, Apriori, Vydavnytstvo Staroho Leva and others…

We support the appeal of the Ukrainian Book Institute to the international publishing community calling for an end to cooperation with Russian publishing houses and literary agencies, and for support of Ukrainian publishers following the Russian attacks.
