Russian Disinformation in the Czech Republic: What Are the Real Proportions?

On June 9, we invite you to a presentation and discussion of a major study on Russian disinformation narratives in the Czech media landscape, conducted by the Texty.org.ua team with the support of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation.

The Czech Republic was chosen for the study because it is one of the targets of Russian information operations, owing to its consistent support for Ukraine and an active stance within the European Union.

What the Team Analyzed

The team analyzed:

  • more than 165,000 publications from 21 Czech websites;
  • more than 22,000 YouTube videos;
  • approximately 1.8 million comments.

Analysts identified 55 key pro-Russian narratives that are systematically promoted across the network.

What Will Be Presented

The presentation will cover:

  • the research methodology and analysis of the Czech information landscape;
  • key pro-Russian narratives and the mechanisms of their spread;
  • the role of junk websites, proxy media, YouTube comments, bots, and trolls;
  • findings on the integration of Czech “alternative media” into the Russian information ecosystem;
  • recommendations for countering disinformation and fostering international coordination.
