The event brought together all those who wish to explore Ukrainian culture and its symbols more deeply — especially on the eve of the Easter holidays.

The lecture explored how, throughout the 18th–20th centuries, Ukrainian artists, poets, and composers interpreted the idea of Resurrection as a path to freedom, a way out of darkness and evil. The central focus was on images of revival, dignity, and eternal life within the Ukrainian cultural tradition.

Special attention was given to the symbolic significance of Kyiv as the “second Jerusalem” and the role of the Golden Gate in this context, as well as the distinctive features of folk icon painting, in which the theme of Resurrection takes on a uniquely Ukrainian character.

The lecture also featured works by Vasyl Stus, Ivan Franko, Mykhailo Boychuk, Olena Kulchytska, Mykola Pymonenko, and other prominent figures who each interpreted the themes of freedom and spiritual renewal in their own way.

The gathering became a space for exploring the deeper meaning of Easter — as a religious, cultural, and historical phenomenon that continues to shape Ukrainian identity today.
