Freedom Has Names. And These Names Are With Us Forever: Programme of Events for the Day of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred Presented in Kyiv

On February 12, a press conference was held at the Ukrainian National News Agency “Ukrinform” on the occasion of the Day of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. This year, February 20 marks 12 years since the mass shootings of protesters on Maidan and 12 years since the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

During the event, the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity, together with its partners, presented a programme of memorial, artistic and educational events, as well as a social campaign for the commemorative date. The events will take place from February 17–20 in Kyiv and the region, combining memorial, educational and artistic formats.

Press conference participants included:

  • Oleksandr Alforov, Head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory;
  • Ihor Poshyvaylo, Director General of the National Memorial Complex of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred — Museum of the Revolution of Dignity;
  • Natalia Dygdalovych, Head of the NGO “Family of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred”;
  • Anzhelika Rudnytska, Director of the State Agency for Culture Promotion of Ukraine and founder of the arts agency “Teretoria A”;
  • Artem Mykolainchuk, Chairman of the Board of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation.

Participants emphasised the importance of preserving the memory of the feat of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred in the context of the full-scale war, when the struggle for freedom and dignity continues.

Chairman of the Board of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation Artem Mykolainchuk confirmed support for memorial initiatives and emphasised their significance for future generations: “I believe this is our duty — to our heroes, to Ukraine, to future generations. Young people must understand the continuity of our struggle for independence and the price at which it came to us.”

The Day of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred is a reminder of the price of freedom and dignity. At a time when Ukraine continues its struggle for independence, preserving the memory of the feat of the Heavenly Hundred is an important element of national resilience and unity.
