“Year Five of the Great War. Empires Will Fall”: Discussion in Kyiv on April 23

Ukraine is entering the fifth year of full-scale war. How is the struggle changing, and why is victory real? This event is an open conversation among people from different fields about how Ukraine is waging the war and what exactly shapes Ukrainian resistance.
What will be discussed
The discussion focuses on the practical dimensions of war and resistance:
- how the war is changing in the fifth year of full-scale invasion;
- the role of each sector in achieving victory;
- challenges and opportunities for Ukraine in the military, diplomatic, and technological spheres;
- the significance of culture and civil society in building resilience.
Participants will share not only analysis but also concrete actions each person can take to bring victory closer. As we previously reported, questions of the practical dimension of defense and international policy remain central to the Foundation.
Discussion participants
Volodymyr Yelchenko — Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN (1997–2000, 2015–2019), head of the international policy research direction at the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation.
Volodymyr Ohryzko — diplomat, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2007–2009), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, head of the Centre for Russian Studies. Ohryzko is one of the leading researchers of Russian policy in Ukraine.
Vitaliy Savych — Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine.
Olha Salo — Deputy Director General of the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity (2018–2026), head of cultural initiatives at the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation.
Serhiy Sternenko — civic activist, volunteer, adviser to the Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
