Prague to Present Program Helping Ukrainian Children Abroad Preserve Their Identity

On June 27 at 2:30 PM, the results of the year-long program “Roots and Wings: A Story That Unites” will be presented.

How can Ukrainian children abroad be helped to preserve their language, culture, and connection to their homeland? Over the past year, participants in the mentoring program “Roots and Wings: A Story That Unites” sought answers to this question. The program was created using an original methodology developed by Natalia Omelchuk, coordinator of educational projects at the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation.

Over the course of the year, the program brought together teachers from Ukrainian schools and cultural and educational centers in Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Jihlava, and České Budějovice. Together, they worked on developing modern educational practices that help Ukrainian children in emigration preserve their identity, study the history of Ukraine, and feel a sense of belonging to the Ukrainian community.

On June 27, 2026, the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation team invites everyone to a final meeting dedicated to the completion and presentation of the results of the year-long mentoring program.

During the event, participants will present:

  • the results of implementing the program “Roots and Wings: A Story That Unites”;
  • live stories and practical case studies from teachers working with Ukrainian children in Czechia;
  • experience using interactive methods and museum pedagogy tools to preserve Ukrainian identity;
  • a vision for the program’s further development and institutional strengthening.

The event will be attended by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Czech Republic, Vasyl Zvarych.

The Pylyp Orlyk Foundation implements the “Roots and Wings” program in Czechia in partnership with the Ukrainian Institute in Prague, with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic.

The event will begin on June 27, 2026, at 2:30 PM at the Consultation Center in Prague (Rokycanova 707/29, Praha 3 – Žižkov).

Those wishing to attend are kindly asked to register.
