Ukraine’s Ambassador to Czech Republic Backs Pylyp Orlyk Foundation’s “Koreni ta Kryla” Programme

A meeting between the team of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation and Ukraine’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Vasyl Zvarych, took place at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic. The gathering focused on the development of the mentorship programme “Koreni ta Kryla: A History That Unites” (Roots and Wings). The Foundation was represented by Natalia Omelchuk, coordinator of educational projects and author of the programme, and Svitlana Kvitnitska, project manager. What Was Discussed at the Meeting

The Foundation’s team shared the programme’s results, its challenges, and opportunities for growth in the Czech Republic and more broadly — among Ukrainian communities across Europe. Topics included building a community of teachers, developing new educational materials on Ukrainian history, culture, and literature, as well as practical experience working with children abroad.

Teachers and parents have already noted that the programme helps children explore their Ukrainian heritage more deeply, develop critical thinking, and strengthen their connection to Ukraine.

Ambassador Vasyl Zvarych expressed his support for the initiative and emphasised the importance of the work done by educators who help Ukrainian children abroad maintain their bond with their homeland.

Further Cooperation

During the meeting, the parties discussed future collaboration: new educational events, additional learning materials, and opportunities to expand the programme to other Ukrainian community centres in the Czech Republic.

About the “Koreni ta Kryla” Programme

“Koreni ta Kryla: A History That Unites” (Roots and Wings) is an annual mentorship programme of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation and the Ukrainian Institute in Prague for teachers of Ukrainian schools and cultural centres abroad. It helps educators teach children through Ukrainian history, culture, and literature, combining modern methodologies with a deeper understanding of their own roots.

The Pylyp Orlyk Foundation thanks the Embassy of Ukraine in the Czech Republic for its support and commitment to jointly strengthening efforts to preserve the identity of Ukrainian youth in emigration.
