This week, a working meeting was held between representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and members of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation — the public organisation representing in Ukraine the international initiative group unrussiaUN.

From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine the meeting was attended by Director of the Department of International Organisations Serhii Dvornyk and Ambassador for Special Assignments Maksym Kononenko.

The Pylyp Orlyk Foundation was represented by co-founder of the international initiative group unrussiaUN Maksym Baryshnikov, Foundation Chairman Artem Mykolainchuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Head of the Foundation’s international policy research direction Volodymyr Yelchenko, and the Foundation’s Chief Consultant, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ihor Kharchenko.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on possible formats of cooperation between the Ministry and the Foundation at the United Nations and within other international organisations, and discussed potential joint steps aimed at increasing legal, diplomatic and information pressure on the Russian Federation in the context of the illegitimacy of its presence at the UN.

“Very good that this meeting took place. It was a meeting of like-minded people who have now agreed to jointly seek practical answers to the most pressing issues of the current complex international agenda.” — Ambassador Ihor Kharchenko.

“For the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation it was very important to begin concrete interaction with Ukraine’s MFA, since one of the fundamental goals of our public organisation is an important foreign policy issue — depriving the Russian aggressor of the so-called ‘continuation’ of Soviet Union membership in the UN, which was illegally and groundlessly acquired. Using our own capabilities, the Foundation will do everything possible to support the efforts of Ukraine’s foreign policy agency in this direction. Today the slogan ‘Russia out of the UN’ is more relevant than ever!” — Ambassador Volodymyr Yelchenko.
