Pylyp Orlyk Foundation: Cultural and Educational Initiatives in the Czech Republic in September 2025
September 2025 was a month of active cultural and educational activities for the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation in the Czech Republic. Together with the Ukrainian Institute in Prague and other partners, the Foundation implemented a number of initiatives aimed at supporting the Ukrainian community abroad, preserving national identity and strengthening Ukraine’s presence in Europe.
Educational Programme “Roots and Wings”
On September 12–14, the first mentorship programme for Ukrainian history teachers abroad launched in Prague. The initiative is implemented by the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation and the Ukrainian Institute in Prague. It is based on the methodology of the educational project “Memories in Boxes” by historian Natalia Omelchuk and aims to reach at least 120 children temporarily residing in the Czech Republic.
14 representatives of Ukrainian schools from six Czech cities participated in the first educators’ meeting: Prague, Brno, Jihlava, Olomouc, Ostrava and Český Krumlov.
Premiere of Documentary Film “What If Chornovil. The Best Scenario for Ukraine?”
The premiere of the film-reflection on possible scenarios for Ukraine’s development in the 1990s was held in Prague and Jihlava. The author and presenter was historian Oleksandr Zinchenko, the director was Serhii Lysenko. The premiere gathered a wide Ukrainian community and Czech friends of Ukraine, giving guests the opportunity to talk with the author.
Pylyp Orlyk Foundation Supports New Educational-Cultural Programme for Children in Prague
With the support of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation, a vibrant and rich programme for the development of children’s creative abilities, preservation and promotion of Ukrainian culture abroad launches in the 2025/2026 academic year. The Prague folk studio “Palyanytsia” is accepting children aged 9 and over. Classes are planned on Saturdays in central Prague.
