Poland Approves Programme for Teaching Ukrainian as a Second Foreign Language
Poland’s Ministry of Education has officially approved a curriculum for teaching Ukrainian as a second foreign language to students in grades 7–8 of general education schools.

The programme creates the opportunity for Polish schools to introduce Ukrainian language learning upon the initiative of parents and the availability of a teacher, opening for children the path to systematic study of Ukrainian in the school environment.
The curriculum’s author is Pavlo Levchuk, associate professor at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, a researcher of Ukrainian-Polish linguistic and cultural connections.
The programme was developed with the support of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation and published with the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland.
This decision is an important step in the sphere of cultural and linguistic support for the Ukrainian community in Poland — especially for children growing up in a multilingual environment.
Language is the home we carry with us.
