Ukrainian Cinema Days Launch in Brno — Continuation of the Major Cinema Event Across Czech Republic

Ukrainian Cinema Days have begun in the Czech city of Brno, running from December 2–7, 2025 at the arthouse cinema Kino Art. This project is a natural continuation of the Ukrainian Cinema Week in Prague. Both events this year are held with the support of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation, which consistently expands Ukraine’s cultural presence in EU countries.

Nine Ukrainian films, sold-out screenings and Czech audience interest

The Ukrainian Cinema Days in Brno programme includes nine films from recent years — documentary, feature and auteur works that have already received high praise from critics and international festivals.

According to Iryna Zabiaka, coordinator of the Cinema Days in Brno and co-founder of the Ukrainian Centre in Brno, interest in the event exceeded expectations: “This year we are presenting nine films released in Ukraine over the past few years. I am very pleased that tickets for four of them were sold out before the festival even began. This testifies to the interest in Ukrainian cinema and gives hope for its further development.”

Among the films: “Honeymoon”, “Mousetrap”, “Malevych”, “Turnip Kings”, “Gray Bees”, “Djura the Prince”, “2000 Metres to Andriivka”, “Dogpatch”, “Steppe”.

Both events — in Prague and Brno — were realised through the cooperation of Czech partners and the support of the Pylyp Orlyk Foundation, which systematically invests in cultural diplomacy and the promotion of Ukrainian cinema in Europe.
